Valtteri Bottas has won the Turkish Grand Prix after an immaculate performance from the Mercedes driver.
Joining him on the podium this afternoon were the two Red Bulls – Max Verstappen in second and Sergio Perez in third.
Verstappen now leads the championship once more, while his closest rival, Lewis Hamilton was in fifth crossing the line after a late decision to pit for fresh inters proved to be the wrong move today.
Hamilton was raging over the team radio heading into the final laps today and reported “massive graining” on his tyres. He ended up losing three seconds in two laps to Leclerc in fourth.
Speaking after the race, race winner, Valtteri Bottas told Sky Sports F1: “It was difficult.
“It feels like a well-earned victory.”
Meanwhile, Verstappen said; “Valtteri had more pace but overall very pleased.
“It was all about managing the tyres. I’m happy to be on the podium.
“It’s been close all year and we need to keep pushing.”
