Pre-season testing is here and excitement continues to reach new heights among motor racing fans across the globe awaiting to see how this year’s new additions will fare.
Before we can get down to the firey season opener in Bahrain, the teams have just three days to make sure everything is in check.
Irish Formula One Commentator, Peter Collins, spoke to Straight to the Grid ahead of day one in Bahrain, and gave us the low-down on what he’s looking forward to most.
“The new season is almost upon us. The spectacular new cars have been revealed and once again we marvel at the exquisite detail of these beautiful machines, built for speed,” he said.
“Testing is getting underway. How will these new thoroughbreds perform?
“The drivers who’ve switched teams, how will they settle into their new environment? There’s even more intrigue when it comes to the ‘rookies’, those fresh-faced young drivers, brand new to the Formula One paddock.
“So many questions to be answered and unlike in times gone by, the teams don’t have weeks of pre-season testing to fine-tune their ultra-powerful 2021 projectiles. Three days in Bahrain will have to suffice.
“What am I looking forward to seeing over the three days in Bahrain? A more competitive Ferrari.
“A McLaren powered by Mercedes once more, Fernando Alonso back on the grid, not to mention Mick Schumacher making his official F1 entrance in the Ferrari powered Haas, all that and so much more.”
“Can’t wait to see what the timesheets reveal after this weekend’s test,” Collins concluded.
Live coverage of pre-season testing in Bahrain will air from 6:50 am to 11:05 am for the morning session and will resume from 11:55 am to 4:10 pm for the afternoon session each day, from March 12-14, 2021.
