Pre-season testing kicks off tomorrow, and while motor racing fans across the globe will sleeplessly await their first glimpse of this season’s contenders in action, Declan Quigley told Straight to the Grid what he’s looking out for this season.
He said; “These are heady days for F1 which is about to begin an important transition phase and happens to have, at the moment, a grid of extraordinary, and arguably unrivalled, strength in depth.
“I, for one, can’t wait for testing to start in Bahrain on March 12th.”
Among the focal points for Declan this weekend is; “Who’s got it right and who’s left playing catch up?
“Have Ferrari fixed their problems?
“Have Hamilton and Mercedes retained their edge?
“Will Perez be able to challenge Verstappen who has lorded over his teammates at Red Bull for a few years?
“Will Fernando Alonso be able to rekindle the fire on his comeback?”
As for the “endlessly fascinating fast-moving, high-powered, and insanely expensive soap opera” that is Formula One, Quigley pointed out that this season will be more competitive than ever.
“With engine development locked in and a final year of the current technical rules, the grid will be closer than ever and it’s an exciting time for Straight to the Grid to drop the clutch!”
Live coverage of pre-season testing in Bahrain will air from 6:50 am to 11:05 am for the morning session and will resume from 11:55 am to 4:10 pm for the afternoon session each day, from March 12-14, 2021.
