Max Verstappen came out on top this afternoon during FP2 in France , landing the fastest lap and once again proving he’s not willing to let Mercedes get ahead without a fight.
The Dutch Red Bull driver topped the timesheets with a lap in 1:32.872 but was just shy of missing out on the top spot to Valtteri Bottas who was a mere .008s behind.
Hamilton was once again on the tail of his Finnish teammate and was .253s off the lead when time ran out this afternoon at the Circuit Paul Ricard.
Alpine’s Fernando Alonso improved his time this afternoon crossing the line fourth fastest, after ending this morning’s run in 7th – his teammate Esteban Ocon was in 6th this afternoon.
Ferrari had a better run as well, with Charles Leclerc in 5th and Carlos Sainz in 8th – marking strides of improvement from this morning’s result of P11 and P16 respectively.
Pierre Gasly was once again in the top 10 this afternoon in P7 .824s behind in FP2 – improving on his P8 finish this morning.
Closing out the final top ten of the day was the Alfa Romeo of Kimi Raikkonen in ninth followed by the McLaren of Lando Norris in tenth.
