Pierre Gasly posted the fastest lap of this morning’s session after a great run in the AlphaTauri ahead of Qualifying this afternoon.
This weekend’s final practice session began in very wet conditions, with lots of standing water making things a bit more difficult for the drivers.
It was a McLaren one-two on the early timesheets with Lando Norris 0.9s ahead of Daniel Ricciardo with a 1:38.395.
Carlos Sainz quickly split the McLaren men in his Ferrari and was around a tenth off his former teammate, Norris.
Minutes later the Spaniard posted the fastest lap of the session so far in 1:37.608 while track conditions were improving.
With 36 minutes remaining, George Russell had a snap of oversteer coming into Turn 2 and then went spinning off, just escaping a collision with the barriers, and bringing about a red flag. He wasn’t the only one finding it hard to stay on track on the inters, with quite a few drivers taking a spin.
Minutes after the green flag, Max Verstappen crossed the line fastest in 1:32.464 and was 0.6s ahead of Bottas in second with 28 minutes to go.
Pierre Gasly in the AlphaTauri had a great morning in the wet conditions and clocked the final fastest lap of the session – two tenths faster than Sergio Perez who had just gone ahead of team-mate Verstappen.
Before time ran out, Max Verstappen improved his time enough to go second – but was still a tenth off the AlphaTauri.
