Formula One organisers have confirmed that the next Sprint of the season will be held in Monza for the Italian Grand Prix after fans hailed the excitement of the format at Silverstone.
The main race will take place on September 12, meaning the second sprint of the season will be on Saturday, September 11, 2021.
It will follow the same format as the British Grand Prix, and so, Friday will open with Practice 1 in the afternoon, followed by Qualifying – which will set the grid for the Sprint.
Saturday morning will then see a second and final practice session, before the 100km F1 Sprint that afternoon to determine the starting grid for Sunday’s Grand Prix.
The Sprint takes place across 100 km, so the Autodromo Nazionale Monza will allow for an 18-lap run around ahead of the 53-lap main event on Sunday.
The new format was a major hit among fans who welcomed the weekend shakeup.
Details of the third and final run of the new format this season will be confirmed at a later stage.
