Valtteri Bottas will lead the second Sprint of the season tomorrow in Monza after an epic lap in Q3 today.
His teammate Lewis Hamilton will be taking off from second, followed by Max Verstappen in the Red Bull.
The Dutchman did a good job to hold off the McLaren’s of Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo who will be in P4 and P5 tomorrow.
Speaking after the session, Verstappen told Sky Sports; “I think for us around this track it’s always going to be difficult.
“We struggled a little more than we wanted in practice but I think we recovered quite well in qualifying.
“I’m still happy to be third, and hopefully in the race we can be a little bit closer.”
Lewis Hamilton then said; “Congratulations to Valtteri, he did a mega lap.
“It was looking good for us until the end but then he went quicker, and I just couldn’t match it.”
Bottas added; “That qualifying lap was nice.
“I feel good, I feel relaxed now that everything is sorted for the future. The car was so good today.”
Tomorrow’s Sprint takes place at 15:30 Irish time.
