Max Verstappen has said he still believes Red Bull can have a great race tomorrow, despite losing out on the top spot to Mercedes.
Verstappen led Q1 today and was strong throughout Q2 and Q3, but ultimately lost out in the final shootout and said the team will have to look into it because, despite the car handling well today, there was a lot of understeer.
Speaking after Qualifying today, the Dutch driver said they need to figure out what was holding him back in attacking the corners, and why they had a lack of front grip.
“We need to look at ourselves because the car itself was actually handling quite well, but just a lot of understeer”, he said.
“So I couldn’t really attack any corners and just waiting for the front to grip up.
“A bit of a weird feeling to be drive because I don’t think it was a set-up or front wing related.
“But it is what it is. We are still quite close, so it’s alright.
“I’m quite confident still we can have a strong race.”
